Jotacija – Jotacija is the sound change where combining non-palatal sounds with “j” creates a new palatal sound.

Sibilarizacija – Sibilarizacija is the sound change where velar sounds “k, g, h” when placed in front of vowels (in some words) change to “c, z, s.”

Sibilarizacija is mostly prevalent in:

  • Dative and Locative cases in feminine singular nouns,
  • Nominative and Vocative cases for masculine nouns,
  • Dative, Locative, and Instrumental masculine plural nouns

Palatalizacija – is the sound change of velar sounds “k, g, h”in front of vowels -a and -i will change to “č. ž, š.”

Palatalizacija is most prevalent in:

  • Vocative case for masculine singular nouns
  • In present of some verbs
  • In front of some suffixes
